November 2011 eNews

We are at a very special time and season in the calendar year when we are reflecting on all that God has done and provided for us. It is a time of celebration, a time of thanksgiving, a time of family get-togethers. I can’t think of a better season where we can enjoy one another’s company, and contemplate the goodness of the Lord.

It is in this respect that I want to rehearse what the Lord has done, to give thanks and look forward to the months that lie ahead.

Speaking on the subject of Hope for the nations, Alan described himself and people who have this hope as being “A Prisoner of Hope”. No matter what goes wrong or how we are defeated, the Kingdom of God will not only triumph but produce the very hope that the nations long for.

Opportunity 2 Hope May 2011

Opportunity2Hope (O2H) is a mercy ministry operated by ordinary people to help the poor throughout the world. O2H is best described as a grass roots organization where the members not only contribute but also initiate grants for worthy projects.

Since O2H began, the Board (a group of O2H members who are purely volunteers) has agreed the distribution of over £100,000 ($162,825 US) worth of grants. Often these grants are no more than £3,000 ($4,885 US)/ project. It has been amazing watching how ‘seed’ grants have made a difference to the lives of the poor and disenfranchised. Without the regular monthly giving of O2H members this would not be possible. Some of the grants O2H have made recently include:

New Building For Risen Lord Community Church

It’s a real time of celebration for Risen Lord Community Church in St. Charles, MO. They have just purchased a building in the center of the historic downtown of St. Charles, MO. They have much to do as they will use the main floor for services and the second floor for offices and children’s ministries. Each floor as 6,000 square feet.

They call the building “Chapel on Main Street” and will share the building with other churches and for weddings. It is their hope that this building will be treasured by the community as it is their goal to be a very active part of the community.

Stay tuned for updates as they are readying themselves for the new launch into this historic site.

Celebration 2010 - USA

Celebration 2010 held at Lake Williamson Christian Center on July 16-18th, was a tremendous success! 200 plus people gathered to enjoy the fellowship, fun, food, inspiration and life together.

The facilities were fantastic. Everything indoors was air-conditioned which was great in the Midwest summer heat. Rekai Orphanage Update

The Orphanage in Zimbabwe is just about finished. Barry arrived in Harare, Zimbabwe on January 6th. There were three purposes of the visit: to see the new orphanage project in Nyanga, to relate to church leaders in Zimbabwe, and train 50 church leaders.

The founder of the Rekai Orphanage is Livingstone & Lena Nerwande. He is also the leader of a network of churches called “Holy Cross”.  The project has been spearheaded by Claire Baggley, a godly and dedicated young woman. Livingstone has a close relationship with the Letchworth and Dunstable churches in Lifelink.
