Global Horizons is partnering with a rapidly growing church group that operates in 11 of India’s 24 states. It has approximately 50,000 members with a high proportion coming from the Dalit people.
The priority of this church is to take the Christian message to a deeply divided and fragmented society - where the gulf between the very rich and those who have nothing is extreme. As well as taking the Christian message to its own people, this church group is committed to helping people read and write, find employment, feed their families and escape from lives of drudgery and abuse - such as the many young girls forced into prostitution.
Our partner, as part of its Christian witness, helps people find lives of dignity through its love, service, orphanages, medical clinics and literacy programmes. It is faithfully being Christ’s representative in a very challenging situation.
The work is growing rapidly and Global Horizons is helping to train marginalised Christians to become effective pastors, teachers and future leaders. A training college is being developed in Andhra Pradesh, which also has six teaching satellites in different parts of India. It trains 60 to 70 people a year.
