USA Leaders Retreat October 2017

The USA Prayer Retreat held at CrossPoint Church was challenging and freeing on the subject of “Making Disciples”.

Russ Johnson, founder of The Table Network (thetablenetwork.com) was the keynote speaker.

Russ is a leading voice in reaching people who aren’t interested in coming to church.

His background is helping establish missional communities, and he is a practitioner with a prophetic voice for us about reaching this growing segment of our population.

This provocative perspective stirred us and added focus to how we sought the Lord in our times of prayer together.

There were 7 sessions. Six by Ross Johnson and the seventh by Alan Scotland

Dan and Rachel Smart Are Going To Swaziland

Dan and Rachel Smart from Swansea Community
Church will be moving to Swaziland

The Smarts are beginning a new venture to explore moving to Swaziland to become Missionaries with Elim Missions and Challenge Ministries Swaziland.

They have been offered a long-term volunteer missionary role at an amazing town named Bulembu, which serves nearly 400 orphaned and vulnerable children and is a centre of community enterprise providing hundreds of jobs, with all profits going to the childcare programme. They will be moving to Swaziland on 5th November 2017.

They are voluntary workers, which means each year they have to fundraise their annual living costs.

Why Swaziland?

Swaziland is in crisis. With the highest AIDS rate in the world of 27% of a population around a million, this leaves about 1 in 5 children without adult family. There are approximately 230,000 orphaned and vulnerable children who need care. With a focus on ‘In community, by community’ Challenge Ministries and Bulembu Ministries are working together to build a sustainable future for this generation of children one child at a time.

With a focus on ‘In community, by community’, Challenge Ministries Swaziland (CMS) is working to build a sustainable future for this generation of children one child at a time, with children’s homes, pre-schools, health clinics, and church plants. They are working for Elim Missions UK, who partner with CMS.

Dan will train and mentor young people in software skills. He also will work with Mobilize Transit TV, which puts gospel, educational, and health TV in buses and taxis. Rachel will use her mime and creative skills to work with children in the schools and childcare programs, hospitals and clinics.
